About Us
Two Farmers Farm is a Certified Organic four-season vegetable farm located on a historic family farmstead in Scarborough, Maine. Our fields lie between the clamor of cars and trucks on Route 1 and the delicate ecology of Scarborough’s saltwater marshes. We are passionate about feeding our friends and neighbors while protecting the unique ecosystems that surround us.

Our land has been farmed since the 1800’s, and we began farming it in 2012. We are proud to be continuing the agrarian tradition on this unique property. We manage about 15 acres of total cropland, and we use that acreage to rotate 5 acres of mixed vegetables and 10 acres of soil-building cover crops every season.

Our soils are a combination of sandy loam and loamy sand – beautiful, light soils that grow excellent root crops, tomatoes, salad greens, celery and more. Our well-drained fields are also well suited to winter vegetable production, which we undertake inside our large high tunnels and smaller hoop houses. We are just a few miles from the ocean, and the sea breeze helps keep our crops healthy and disease-free. The woods, brooks and marsh that surround our farm provide natural habitat for beneficial insects and critters that support our cropland.

Practices
CERTIFIED ORGANIC by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA). Like all certified organic farms, we are also 100% non-GMO.

GAP CERTIFIED by the US Department of Agriculture. This “Good Agricultural Practices” certification is a federal food safety program and demonstrates our commitment to providing safe, healthful food to our community.

FSMA COMPLIANT as determined by the US Food and Drug Administration.

About Us
Kitchen Garden Farm is located in the heart of the Pioneer Valley, the prime agricultural region of Western Massachusetts. The farm consists of 50 acres of rich river bottom soil with fields on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Sunderland and Whately. The farm’s home base is located on S. Silver Lane in the center of Sunderland, about five miles from UMASS Amherst.

Caroline and Tim started the farm in 2006 on 1 acre of rented land, and have expanded the farm greatly in recent years. All of the new land they have brought into cultivation had previously been farmed by conventional growers in the area.

Practices
Kitchen Garden Farm is doing the important work of converting prime agricultural land in their community to Organic production. Caroline and Tim are committed to growing healthy soils by cultivating a wide range of biodiverse crops, improving crop rotation and cover cropping.

About Us
At Heron Pond Farm, located in South Hampton, NH, we produce over 250 varieties of 35 fruits and vegetables, as well as a large variety of herbs and flowers. We practice sustainable agriculture to produce healthy, fresh food for local consumption in pursuit of our commitment to building community through local agriculture.

Practices
At Heron Pond Farm we use organic practices and also what are broadly called conventional agricultural practices. We fertilize almost all of our crops with composted chicken manure and just like many organic farms we use biologically based pesticides. Yes, even certified organic farms use pesticides. Unlike many organic farms we grow sweet corn, the growing of which is benefited greatly by the use of herbicide. The vast majority of our other weed control is done with tractor implements, called cultivators. You will not find many organic farms better equipped to control weeds in this way. We view the use of non-biological pesticides as a tool only to be used where nothing else will work or is practical. We have employees and families who live and play on the farm and their and our safety is paramount. Our farming practices are designed to be sustainable in every sense of the word: environmentally, financially, and mindful of time for other things in life.
